We grow vegetable, herb and companion plants and plants for pollinators and other wildlife.
All peat-free, pesticide-free and using as little single-use plastic as possible.
Welcome to Grow Local Sussex! Based near Lewes, we grow and sell veg plants, herbs, companion plants and plants for pollinators and other wildlife – all peat-free, pesticide-free and using as little single-use plastic as possible.
Many of our edibles are grown from organic seed – and all in Soil Association approved organic peat-free compost. We’ve been trialling a range of natural and biodegradable pots and containers and all our plants leave us free from single-use plastic.
Our varieties are carefully chosen for flavour and yield and many are heritage/heirloom and open-pollinated. For updates on what’s available and where to find us, please sign up for our newsletter …
Kitchen windowsills or rambling gardens, the benefits of growing should be accessible to all.
We believe the benefits of growing at least some of your own food should be accessible to everyone. Working with the land – and our cohabitants of it – to grow, harvest and taste fresh and chemical-free food is something we could – and did – all do, not so long ago.
The growing – not just the eating – process represents one of our deepest, most direct connections with the land and we believe it’s essential for our physical and mental wellbeing. Plus every time we thoughtfully grow and harvest something, in a way that does not harm, we are taking a step in
reducing food packaging, food waste, transportation and intensive farming practices. The food also tastes wonderful, we save money and we increase the biodiversity on our doorsteps.
What’s ready now?
We have some lovely biennials ready to plant out now – all chosen because they are nectar and pollen rich and invaluable to pollinators. And a great selection of perennial herbs – also great for planting out in the Autumn. Please check out our plant list, which is being updated regularly – or message me to find out more 🙂
